Position Summary Information Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Division of Craniofacial and Surgical Care provides a diverse approach to treatment for patients with craniofacial or oral and maxillofacial conditions, including those with multiple or complex oral health problems. The Orthodontics discipline focuses on the treatment of irregularities of the teeth, jaws, and bite relationship in children and adults.
Position Summary A SIGN -ON BONUS OF $2,000 IS AVAILABLE FOR THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT OF THIS POSITION , PAID WITHIN 12 MONTHS OF HIRE .
The Dental Assistant provides support to residents in a fast-paced post-doctoral graduate residency program and faculty operating in their respective private duty practices. The Dental Assistant has a broad range of daily duties and responsibilities that include chair-side assisting, sterilization, intra-oral scanning, the pouring and trimming of orthodontic study models, and additional duties as assigned throughout the day.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High school diploma or equivalency and completion of an accredited dental assisting program; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience The selected candidate should be civic-oriented and understand that the university/school atmosphere is different from private practice. The candidate should also understand and embrace the wide variety of patients seen in the clinic. The candidate should also have previous work experience as a dental and (ideally) orthodontic assistant.
