Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and provides leadership in the development and implementation of all departmental programs, initiatives, structures, systems, policies and procedures.
  • Directs, supervises, and coordinates all administrative functions and activities of the ambulatory clinics including practice standards and operational policies and procedures, in accordance with standards established by institutional, governmental and other regulatory bodies.
  • Contributes to the development of departmental mission, goals, policies and procedures, and work standards. Assists in developing and marketing new ambulatory care services as requested.
  • Serves as a strategic partner with MSM Ambulatory leadership, Departmental Chairs, Medical Directors and staff in the planning and implementation of programs & initiatives that support the mission, growth and success of clinical programs.
  • Responsible for the department’s complete revenue cycle performance which includes appointment scheduling, registration and insurance verification, front desk check in and check out, front end collections and monitoring payment posting, charge capture and charge entry. Work with the CBO on billing process, minimizing bad debt, as well as addressing all front end operational issues that impact the revenue cycle.
  • Facilitates onboarding/integration of any newly acquired and/or implemented programs to Hospital/Ambulatory care. Coordinates with senior management on monitoring clinical activities to ensure cost-effective, high-quality health care for patients consistent with the mission and resources of the hospital.
  • Accountable for analyzing, distributing, monitoring, maintaining and meeting/setting goals for operational performance and efficiency, financial performance and patient satisfaction scores for all clinics.
  • Responsible for preparation of annual budget and coordination of monthly variance/accruals, budget/FTE analysis.
  • Responsible for recruitment, hiring and training of competent and effective employees and managers that can lead clinical and administrative support teams and accomplish the mission of the department and organization
  • Ensures the development and delivery of required staff training using a competency- based assessment program. Evaluates and develops staff based on job-specific competencies. Evaluates how staff resources are allocated to support business activities and revenue cycle initiatives.
  • Manages relationship and performance of contracted services i.e. clinical service agreements with local providers, contracted call center services etc…. Prepares, reviews and responds to daily/weekly/monthly analytical reports to assess performance and quality of services.
  • Interacts with medical and administrative staff to ensure compliance with standards and regulations, to include The Joint Commission, NYS/NYC Department of Health, and responsible for compliance oversite programs in accordance with regulatory agencies.
  • Supports institutional process improvement initiatives to enhance organizational performance. Demonstrates professional behavior reflective of leadership best practices.
  • Set a tone of leadership that is people-oriented, transparent, and collaborative in nature, empowering and focused in data based decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Build an infrastructure and culture based on teamwork, open communication, innovation, mentoring and accountability
  • Coordinates, as requested, operational committees and physician advisory committees.
  • Maintains professional affiliations and enhances professional development to keep pace with health care trends.
  • Handles special projects assigned.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality.


  • Graduate degree in Business, Healthcare Administration or alternate applicable education.
  • Minimum of five -seven years of experience in health administration including three years’ experience in a clinic environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Managerial skills including budgeting and finance
