The Corix team has an opportunity for a Director of Business Development in Chicago, IL. This position is responsible for the development of business opportunities for the Corix Utilities Water and Wastewater operations group. This role will participate in the acquisition of existing utilities, responding to RFP’s, managing client relationships and assisting existing operations managers with operation and maintenance projects.
What you'll do
- Identify, evaluate and recommend acquisitions that align with the company’s strategic plan.
- Work with operations management to improve and optimize Water and Wastewater operations through optimization and maintenance projects. Works with operations management to improve Water and Wastewater operations through O&M contract optimization and maintenance project management.
- Implement strategies to optimize project opportunities and meet business development goals.
- Develop and maintain good business relationships with customers on different levels and strategic suppliers to the company.
- Drive strategic growth objectives, performing market research to identify, qualify and prioritize potential markets, projects and customers.
- Respond to request for proposal (RFP) documents.
- Work in collaboration with the other functional departments of Corix Utilities on identifying and developing opportunities
- Analyze and actively communicates information about the market.
- Inform the VP of all activities, opportunities, issues and project deadlines.
- Perform other related duties as required
What you bring
Experience
- 7+ years’ experience in Business Development experience.
Education and Certification
- Bachelors’ Degree in Finance, Engineering, Commerce, Economics or Business Administration, or equivalent, with a professional designation.
Nice to Have
- MBA or other advanced professional qualifications or education an asset.
- Good knowledge of and experience with water and energy utilities industries are preferred.
Skills
- Ability to lead the negotiation of favorable terms and conditions of potential transactions.
- Experience driving the due diligence, and transaction closing process through collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing.
- Exceptional project and people management skills.
- Outstanding presentation development and delivery skills.
- Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise professional judgment when handling sensitive and confidential matters
