The City of Pacific Grove is seeking qualified candidates to be part of the Pacific Grove's Public Works fleet management team. This individual needs to have a strong background in maintenance and repair of a variety of type of vehicles, from maintenance trucks to large specialty equipment. The job will also require experience maintaining small hand held equipment. This person will need to be able to perform Department of Transportation inspections and will be required to diagnose and repair fire apparatuses and equipment. SUMMARY: Under basic supervision, performs skilled maintenance, preventive maintenance, repairs, and adjustments on City vehicles, equipment and machinery, in accordance with all Public Works Department (PWD) safety regulations and procedures; this is a journey-level position.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: -- As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, essential functions may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training and Experience Guidelines: High School Diploma or GED equivalent; AND two years experience as a journey-level mechanic; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: A valid California State Driver's License is required. Specific technical training and certifications may be required for some job assignments.
