Eagle Health is seeking a COVID-19 Health Integration Technical Advisor to join our team in support of the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID)’s Bureau for Global Health (GH) serves as the agency’s primary source of technical expertise, leadership, and donor coordination for the health sector, including HIV and AIDS, infectious diseases, child and maternal health and nutrition, family planning and reproductive health, and health systems strengthening and reform. GH is responsible for advancing field-relevant, state-of-the-art research and the transfer of new technologies and approaches to field programs. Through its staff, programs and country teams, GH provides critical support to USAID missions and field programs in more than 70 countries.
The Global Health Bureau’s COVID-19 Response Team leads the coordination and implementation of USAID’s global health-related technical engagement on COVID-19, including such tasks as strategy and policy development, intra- and interagency coordination, and external engagement and communication with existing GH technical leadership functions.
As of September 2022, over 6.5 million people have died from the COVID-19 pandemic. It has further disrupted access to essential services including immunization and put tens of millions at risk of contracting vaccine-preventable diseases. The Biden Administration has called on the world to collectively end the COVID-19 pandemic as soon as possible, and has introduced ambitious targets in three critical areas for ending this pandemic and preventing and preparing for the next: Vaccinate the World; Save Lives Now; and Build Back Better. Efforts to develop, distribute and deliver COVID-19 vaccines are a top priority globally. These, and other critical response goals, are guided by the U.S. COVID-19 Global Response and Recovery Framework (GRRF).
Responsibilities:
The USAID Global Health Bureau’s COVID-19 Response Team is seeking an COVID-19 Integration Advisor to coordinate with USAID field Missions as well as offices with USAID’s Global Health Bureau (including but not limited to the Office of Health Systems, Office of Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition, and Office of Infectious Disease) as well as engage with the GH Bureau leadership for the Accelerating Primary Health Care Initiative to integrate USAID COVID-19 programming into existing Agency health programs as the COVID-19 response evolves into endemic, manageable disease.
- Provide high-quality, up-to-date technical assistance to GH COVID-19 team members in the area of integration of COVID-19 prevention, testing, and treatment efforts into public and primary health care systems
- Stay abreast of new policy recommendations, emerging evidence, best practices, technical and programmatic developments, and data sources, in the area of integration of COVID-19 into broader public health response
- Review and develop recommendations integrated programming at the field and HQ level
- Draft briefers, talking points, and information memo on COVID-19 public health integration-related issues, programs and results;
- Participate in inter-agency and global meetings, consultations, working groups, and negotiations
- Liaise with Lead Technical Advisors and other technical, program, and management staff to understand and develop stepwise process for integration of COVID-19 activities into routine Bureau programming
- Routine engagement and strategic and programmatic planning with USAID Global Health Bureau staff across offices for the future of COVID-19 programming with USAID
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Master's degree
- Experience working in areas of public health programming, policy, or research, including substantial experience in primary health care or other disease-specific areas, with experience in international or resource-challenged settings;
- Formal training in and demonstrated understanding of public health integration;
- Hands-on experience designing, planning, implementing, and evaluating integrated health programming is highly desirable;
- Experience in COVID programming highly desirable;
- Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills;
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team, including cross-cultural teams;
- Ability to work in a high pressure, fast turn around environment.
- Experience with USAID programming, budgeting, and evaluation functions and procedures both in USAID/Washington and in USAID missions desirable;
- Ability to travel internationally up to 20% time; and
- US citizenship or US permanent residency with the ability to obtain and maintain Facility Access required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100,000.00 - $164,000.00 per year
