Job description
Nature of Work Responsible for original, complex and copy cataloging of materials in all formats including electronic. Contributes records to OCLC. Maintains library catalog and download records. Compiles statistics and prepares the monthly and annual cataloging/withdrawal report.Examples of Work Performed Cataloging all Library materials and coordinating cataloging activities with tri-college system, including download records. Familiarity with MARC, including AACR2 and other formats for bibliographic holdings and authority control. Maintenance of OPAC and relevant report generation. Acquisition of Library materials, including electronic licensing and troubleshooting, book repair, gifts and technological familiarity with Sierra (or similar) acquisition protocols. Ensure consistent and integrated access to electronic and print resources; Troubleshoots subscription-related access to electronic resources through appropriate catalog and link resolver maintenance. Monitors terms of electronic subscription agreements to assure subscriber and vendor compliance and delivery of content. Complies statistics, analyzes and disseminates usage/management reports. Also includes reference and circulation desk duties and rotational weekend and evening hours. May provide library instruction to college students as requested. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications Master’s degree in Library Science from ALA accredited institution.
Preferred Qualifications Cataloging experience with Dewey and OCLC Familiarity with cataloging and acquisitions technologies Experience with Library instruction
Physical Demands The physical requirements for this position may include, but are not necessarily limited to, the ability to use a computer, calculator, telephone, keyboard, and/or various types of office equipment. Must be able to effectively communicate in verbal and written formats and satisfactorily perform the functions of this position.
