Fiber Splicing Technician
Summary: The Fiber Technician is responsible for terminating, splicing, bonding/grounding, documenting, and testing all fiber optic cables within the systems fiber optic networks and their related equipment. While performing these duties, the technician will climb utility poles and ladders, lift and carry equipment that weighs at least 75 lbs. Use various hand tools, and work in all types of inclement weather.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with OSP Engineering and construction personnel to ensure timely and accurate completion of required tasks.
- Maintain proper inventory of vehicle-based on work assignments
- Splice fibers with quality as the priority.
- Assemble splice enclosures, pedestals, and ONT's as required per job.
- Properly ground cable and components for locating and safety purposes.
- Test fiber routes once finished ensuring quality and completeness of work.
- Work with live fiber without interrupting service.
- Read prints to determine cable routes, counts, and splice points.
- Operate vehicle safely, following all safety and traffic regulations.
- Manage schedules and budgets, validate deliverables at key milestones, supervise Fiber
preparation and closeout documents generated and designated to the project database.
Education and Experience:
Experience preferred but training will be provided
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient in the operation of all related fiber tools and equipment.
- Experience and knowledge of OSP engineering processes & fiber splicing techniques.
- Can manage several fiber splicing projects at once.
- Ability to communicate and present data and forecast job status accurately.
Must be able to differentiate color codes.
- Demonstrated single fiber splicing experience with major operators in the wireless & fiber industries.
- Use the OTDR
- Experience in Outside Plant, and Inside plan splicing and troubleshooting
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
- PC proficiency, including Microsoft Office, MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Willing to travel
- High energy individual with a positive attitude and must be a team player.
- Excellent written and oral communication is required.
- Strong interpersonal skills are essential and have a strong work ethic and good attendance record.
- Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions. Use of OTDR

Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
