Reporting to the Fixed Operations Director, with dotted line responsibility to the CarMax Key Support Operations team, the Operations Manager-Keys is responsible to provide ongoing, key focused support for all CarMax locations with their assigned market of responsibility during the CarMax key transition period. Following the key transition period, the MSM will continue to support the market as needed.Essential Duties and Responsibilities – Field Technical Support
- Lead, facilitate, and providing field training for new/existing employees, mentoring, and follow up by way of field evaluations to increase Key Technician effectiveness/performance.
- Responsible for key production and ensuring optimal levels of productivity are reached at CarMax locations while managing resources accordingly.
- Continuously evaluate and identify supply cost control measures, including inventory control best practices within the key line of business.
- Provide key operations expertise surrounding all facets of operational processes and procedures.
- Serve as subject matter expert to support technician development and address/solve issues as they arise.
- Drive communication with CarMax Ops Managers/maintain open lines of communication ensuring all operational objectives are met.
- Foster relationships with DW managers and technicians to establish and maintain open lines of communication.
- Facilitate weekly updates with Regional Operations Director and Field Management as to progress, challenges, and team developmental needs as assigned.
- Lead efforts of identifying and focusing on technical skill and operational enhancements to drive improved technician retention.
- Ensure that adequate coverage for vacations as well as emergency/unplanned assignments on an as needed basis.
- Ensure DW key techs maintain conduct and appearance in accordance to customer and Dent Wizard policy and standards.
Job Requirements
- Ability to manage, forecast and coordinate DW key tech resources to maintain key production at multiple facilities.
- Proficient in key duplication/key cloning process and programming.
- Full knowledge of key types and key parts.
- Familiar with NetSuite invoicing & NetSuite key replenishment order process.
- Ability to manage through conflict resolution with customer operations manager.
- Adhere to and maintain proper company and customer conduct and appearance.
- Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledgeable regarding company policy, programs, and Key Technician LOA plan.
- Extensive travel throughout assigned region will be required.
