The Sr Expert, Strategic Contracting will manage the development and maintenance of all US Contracts within the Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) targeted business channels of the US healthcare diabetes market. This includes negotiating, creating and developing contracts and contract templates for critical large and complex customers. You will be responsible for strategic partnership and negotiation included in the contract redline process and serve as a liaison between Legal, internal key stakeholders and Sales functions.
This position is critical in the development of Contract strategy, initiation and governance due to the nature of the very complex contracts this role manages. The Sr. Expert of Strategic Contracting will turn a US approved contract strategy into contract language that all parties can understand. They will lead all cross functional management of RFPs for Managed Care organizations and Distributor contracts, making independent judgment and providing strategic input within the process. This position also manages compliance issues from both internal and external governance within the US Commercial Sales, Marketing and Finance organizations in accordance with Ascensia Diabetes Care US Policies.
What you will be doing:
Serves as the Strategy Lead over complex and/or critical large accounts across all contract types with the CGM business unit. Create strategically sound contracts and provide contract solutions that will satisfy both customer and business needs
Manages the contract portfolio within targeted business channels to ensure consistent creation and workflow of contract documents by coordinating with Legal, Sales, Finance, Marketing, and all other key stakeholders within the ADC US or Global business as required.
Manages compliance for contracts within a targeted business channel, ensuring customers are meeting the requirements needed to maintain discounts provided on contract offerings.
Identifies needs to improve operations and processes of the group and leads any changes or improvement efforts.
Develops and maintains good customer relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
Independently leads all cross functional efforts in Strategic Contracting (in Project management form) for any large, critical RFP and/or bid that may develop significant risk to the organization.
At advanced senior levels, this expert position also manages service agreements and agreement that define new technologies or services newly launched by ADC. Service agreements require an additional level of business knowledge and the capability to rapidly translate constantly evolving business developments into contracts that retain the same high level of value and protections that have been developed for established businesses.
Provides strategic input and co-development of complex Sales Strategies and presentations with and for Key Decision Makers and Executive Leadership.
Provides ad hoc analysis and risk assessments as needed to evaluate sales offers, execute on look back analysis’ and determine contract value and compliance.
What you need for success:
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.
10+ years of business experience including 5+ years of experience in contract creation and drafting, and 4+ years in commercial business strategy, 5+ years in DME Medical benefit or Specialty Pharma contracting
Experience in Diabetes care Medical device market, DME medical benefit, PBM pharmacy benefit, Specialty Pharma, and/ or government markets.
In-depth knowledge of working with complex and specialized contracts up to and including Provider contracts and/or contracting with Payers.
Strong understanding of Healthcare economics
Field sales experience desirable, but not required
Strong interpersonal / analytical/communication skills with ability to integrate information from multiple sources.
Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment in the solution of work problems.
Demonstrated ability to manage information and input from several functions and sources.
Ability to communicate decisions and recommendations effectively throughout Diabetes Care at all levels.
Ability to independently structure customer contracts that accommodate CGM commercial team requirements while maintaining administrative and financial responsibilities.
